Tax Advisory & Compliance

End-to-end tax compliance and advisory — corporate income tax, withholding, stamp duty, and cross-border structures — keeping you compliant and minimising exposure.

Navigating Egypt's tax landscape requires specialist knowledge and continuous monitoring of legislative changes. ETAF Office provides a full suite of tax compliance and advisory services for corporations, partnerships, and individuals — covering every tax type administered by the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA).

Our tax team prepares and files corporate income tax (CIT) returns, ensuring deductions are correctly claimed and transfer-pricing adjustments are properly reflected. We handle withholding-tax certificates, payroll tax declarations, stamp-duty filings, and annual profit distributions. For clients with cross-border operations, we advise on double-taxation treaties, permanent establishment risk, and offshore structuring.

Beyond compliance, we represent clients in ETA examinations, respond to queries on their behalf, negotiate settlements in tax disputes, and accompany them through the appeals process before the Internal Committee and the Tax Appeals Commission.

How It Works

1

Tax Position Review

We review your current tax position, outstanding filings, and any open disputes to establish a baseline and identify immediate risks.

2

Data Gathering & Computation

We collect the financial data required for each tax type, apply the correct treatment under Egyptian tax law, and compute the liability or refund position.

3

Return Preparation & Internal Review

Returns are prepared, cross-checked against supporting schedules, and reviewed by a senior tax manager before submission.

4

Filing & Confirmation

We file electronically via the ETA portal and obtain confirmation receipts. We retain copies of all filed returns and supporting evidence.

5

ETA Examination Support

If the ETA selects your returns for examination, we prepare the response file, attend meetings on your behalf, and negotiate to achieve a fair and final settlement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the corporate income tax rate in Egypt?
The standard CIT rate is 22.5% on net taxable profits. Certain sectors (e.g. oil and gas operations) are subject to different rates. Free-zone entities and companies operating in specific investment-law incentive areas may qualify for exemptions.
When is the annual tax return due?
The CIT return is due within four months of the end of the company's financial year. For a December year-end, the deadline is 30 April. Advance tax payments (quarterly instalments) are also required during the year.
Can ETAF represent us if we receive an ETA examination notice?
Absolutely. We prepare a comprehensive technical response, attend all examination sessions with the inspector, and handle the full dispute process through the Internal Committee and, if necessary, the Tax Appeals Commission.
How far back can the ETA audit our returns?
Under Egyptian tax law, the ETA may generally review returns for the preceding five years. The limitation period is suspended in cases of fraud or non-filing. Maintaining well-organised supporting documentation is therefore essential.
